In a
privileged location, where pretty valleys flow down from the high
mountain pastures and peaks, between the
Marmore Waterfalls and Spoleto is located the Abbey San Pietro
in Valle, a stunning historical residence founded in the 8th century.
The legend says that two hermits arrived in the area and built a
hermitage, which became a worship place for the local people. Later on,
Faroaldo II, having received in a dream a vision of St. Peter,
built the church to be dedicated to St. Peter and
the Monastery in the spot where the little oratory had been
built by the two hermits.
Surrounded by a thick and luxurious vegetation, where the waters are
still
fresh and crystalline, this splendid residence
guaranties a peaceful and restful stay, in a unique, mystic and
out of the time
atmosphere after being
welcomed by
Federica, Letizia and Chiara the three owner sisters
who are managing the historical hotel. The rooms, some
located in the antique cells of the
Benedictine monks, and others in the
forestry of the convent are all
different from one another: some have a
chimney, others
shelves
and nooks, wall closets, vestibules and
loopholes and breathtaking views over the valley.
Here, only the singing of birds or the sun rays showing up through the
breakings of the shutters, invite you to open
your eyes. After that, a healthy and energetic
breakfast will get you started to discover the spectacular surroundings
and activities that the area has to offer. In the evening, the notes of
Vivaldi, Mozart or Bach, accompanying a
delightful dinner
prepared with fresh products and traditional
recipes, accompanied by a wide range of excellent
local and national wines, at the Restaurant “Il Cantico”
or a suggestive
night walk under the starry sky, will have
completed an unforgettable day. |
