In
the last couple of years, the island of Majorca has become Europe’s
favourite tourist destination. There are many different reasons for
this, but the main one, besides its mild climate with temperatures
softened by the sea breeze, is its heterogeneous geography. The
island’s scenery varies from the white sand beaches of the coast to
agricultural plains in the central areas to a mountainous landscape
composed of numerous valleys and peaks. It is in this irregular
landscape where the Serra de Tramuntana is located, the longest
mountain range in the Balearic Islands.
The Serra crosses the western coast of Majorca from south to north
and is spotted with small villages and valleys that shape its
fascinating configuration. This mountainous formation is one of the
island’s most tranquil and peaceful corners and is home to towns
such as Sóller and its seaport.
