Those choosing to stay at the Regina Isabella are embracing a new
philosophical approach to the whole spectrum of health and wellbeing.
The Regina Isabella is not just a gateway to the rediscovery of a
correct psycho-physical balance; it is not just a delightful place to
undergo cosmetic treatments; above all, it is a positive affirmation of
life, energy and beauty. The thermo-mineral springs of Lacco Ameno were
already renowned in ancient times for their remarkable regenerative and
healing properties. On account of the many benefits they bring, the waters are
called "multiactive". The subject of close scrutiny since the early
Nineteenth Century (visiting scientists have included the Nobel Prize
Winner Marie Curie), the therapeutic properties of the springs have been
confirmed by clinical research and documented in a plethora of medical
articles.

Ischia is the largest of the Parthenopean Islands and lies just off the
southern promontory of the Gulf of Naples, about 10 kilometres from the
mainland. Its volcanic origins explain the island's mainly mountainous
terrain, in which the highest peak, Mount Epomeo, rises 788 metres above
sea level. The coastline is very rugged and indented with a series of
attractive and enchanting coves, spectacular bays and romantic inlets,
some of which can only be reached by boat.
The island was already known in Neolithic times and was first colonised
in the 8th Century by Greek settlers who founded Pithekoussai. |
