ABOUT THE REGION |
 |
Costa Blanca means white
coast, a name taken from the endless miles of beautiful sandy
beaches which stretch from the cosmopolitan town of Denia in the
north to the popular tourist resort of Torrevieja in the south. The
northern part of the region is mountainous, relatively green and
peppered with groves of orange and olive trees along with colourful
orchards of almonds and cherries. The much flatter and drier
southern end of the Costa is famous for having the biggest palm
gardens and salt flats in the whole of Europe.
|
 |
In this beautiful region is Altea,
without doubt one of the
most charming towns to be found on Spain's "White Coast". This
town is a holiday haven for the discerning tourist who will be
captivated by its medieval cobbled streets, its picture book old
quarter and the delights of its palm-fringed seafront esplanade.

 |
Also you must not miss Alicante. This thriving cosmopolitan city has
three thousand years of history behind it, but has entered the 21st
century as a leading centre of commerce, culture and tourism. The
Roman city of Lucentum was the predecessor of modern day Alicante
which developed after the Moorish invasion, protected from sea
attacks by the presence of the castle. |
