The Araba Fenice,
the only four stars hotel situated right on the shore of Lake Iseo,
is a hotel with history. Patriotic
societies used to hold meetings, at
today’s Araba Fenice hotel, at the time
of Italy’s unification (circa 1848) and
– closer to our times – a secret meeting
between Winston Churchill and Benito
Mussolini is said to have taken place
during the second world war. Also, its liberty saloons
and casino became the gathering point of the refined society and elegant people,
in the times between the two world wars.
One of the most impressive and imposing hotels on the area, with a
complex of three buildings, lies amid one of the nicest coves of
the Iseo lake, known to locals as the 'Gulf of Flowers'. Formerly a 19th
century "trattoria con stallo", coaching house, it has been lovingly and
carefully restored to all of its past glory. Ornate ceilings and an
elegant decoration provide its public lounges, with a grand, regal
air. The bedrooms, modern and spacious, have been equipped with the
latest amenities to offer a high standard of accommodation, and enjoy breathtaking
panoramic view across the lake and the mountains. The charming restaurant Bella Iseo,
with a long tradition of refined clientele, completes the services of
the hotel. Its position,
makes it possible to enjoy the fine cuisine of fresh local dishes from the
pleasant terrace over the lake, where the charm of a panorama of evocative
beauty can be enjoyed from spring to late autumn.
Combining a tradition of friendly hospitality with a high standard of
service and a perfect lakeside location, the Araba Fenice is an
exceptionally comfortable choice for your stay on the pretty, quiet lake
of Iseo. |
