Auberge des Templiers located
an hour from Paris on the A6 Motorway, at the entrance to the Loire
Valley and on the edge of Sologne, on the former site of a guard post
built by Everard des Barres Major General of the Templars around 1160.
Auberge des Templiers was later destroyed by Philippe le Bel and renewed
as a hotel in 1946 by the Depee family. There are no words or pictures
descriptive enough to convey to the reader the magnificence of this
establishment! Auberge des Templiers is one of the eight establishments
in the original group of 'Relais de Campagne', later renamed the 'Relais
& Châteaux'. An Auberge in French, literally translated means “lodge”
and this hotel surely has the layout of a lodge only that the beauty of
the place and extreme dedication of everyone involved provide guests a
feeling of welcome not so easy to find now a days…, and surprisingly,
prices are more than reasonable – JP Moser. |
