Purpose of Accademia del Buon Gusto is to promote Sicily’s unique gastronomic heritage with all its authentic products, among those, who are too busy with their daily problems and lost the habit of slowing down to enjoy the small pleasures of life, like that of the aromas and the taste of good food.
The Mediterranean diet is more than just food. It is a way of living that stimulates respect for the territory and the biodiversity, that guarantees the conservation and the development of the traditional activities and the crafts in the fishing and the agricultural sector of our country. The simple cuisine of the Accademia del Buon Gusto involves a set of skills, knowledge and traditions that go from the landscape to the dining table, including crops, harvesting, fishing, conservation, processing, cooking, and particularly the sharing and consumption of food.
The cooking lessons are held by Chèf Massimiliano Ballarò, assisted by two sous-chefs: he will share all his knowledge and his great passion for the Mediterranean cuisine with you. The 4-days cooking classes will take place in March and in November, for groups of minimum 4 and maximum 12 participants.
Each cooking class is aimed at developing the knowledge of the participants about the basic products of the Mediterranean diet, the techniques of “slow cooking” and the gastronomic combinations.
The lessons will involve the participants actively in the cooking. Through the activity of professional wine tasting, organized by a sommelier, the participants will also be introduced to the most important Sicilian wines.
The lessons will be held in English or Italian.
