The hotel Casa Morisca is
situated in the historic district of the lower Albayzin at the foot of
the Alhambra. This old Moorish quarter of Granada, with a maze of
typical narrow streets and UNESCO’s Patrimony of the World status. It is
also close to the street along the river Darro, giving easy access to
the city centre and the Alhambra.
This pretty 15th century house that has been restored and is now a
charming small inn with 14 rooms. All the rooms are elegantly decorated
and each is different. Looking onto a patio with a Moorish pool, you
are surrounded by the galleries off which the rooms are found. The old
wood, columns and tiles from a restoration done in the 17th century have
been painstakingly restored, and carefully integrated into the older
part of the house. There is a pretty breakfast room and a patio garden
with a magnificent view of the Torre de Comares of the Alhambra (sipping
an aperitif here is perfect on a hot Granada day, there is no bar but
you can bring your own special drink). There is no restaurant at the inn,
but lots of interesting places to eat in the vicinity. It is possible to
get a car to this location but there is no private parking. Please note
that a patio-facing room is a room facing inwards towards the patio and
the lobby; an exterior facing room has windows facing outwards looking
at Granada. Much of the Albaicin has narrow, pedestrian-only cobbled
lanes and alleys -- be prepared with good walking shoes. |
