Every year during the noon on the first or second day of May, takes place the Battle of Flowers in Cordoba. In the central avenues of Paseo de la Victoria and Argentina, a cavalcade of floats decorated with flowers throws carnations to the public and the public throws them back, as if it were a battle. It is the way that Cordoba has to welcome the spring.
Popular contest "Cruces de Mayo", in the courtyards and squares large crosses decorated with flowers, pots and Manila shawls rise. Neighborhood associations and Peñas install a wet bar where drinks and typical tapas are served. All enlivened with music and evening Sevillanas dance shows.
