Loreto Aprutino
is considered a Medieval
Jewel, located very near Pescara, which emerges from a
silver sea, and olive groves, in a perfect balance between
nature, history
and art. The little town boasts an archaeological wealth the importance of
which was emphasized by the excavations of the 50s, which uncovered the Necropolis of Farina Cardito and Colle
Fiorano. A walk through the lanes of the historical Centre is truly fascinating
with every corner offering a work of art. Precious are the ceramics of the Acerbo Gallery and the
enchanting Abbey of Santa Maria
in Piano, rebuilt in 1200 and in 1500.

Explore the region of Abruzzo:
Central and western Abruzzo has a
lifestyle that has not changed for centuries. Here
you'll find ancient beech wood forests inhabited by
wolves and bears, century-old pathways still used by
shepherds. The ancient castles now guard nothing but
deserted stretches of wilderness where the only sign of
life might be a soaring eagle. To the east, the scenery
changes and rolling hills give way to kilometres of
white sandy beach to suit every taste, ranging from large sandy
beaches with bars, restaurants, swimming pools and
children's areas to quiet,
easily-accessible coves.
Also Abruzzo has many examples of art and architecture. There are
many art treasures churches, and hermitages that date back many
years. Most of the old villages have priceless art and historical
treasures. These treasures are often exhibited during the various festivals and fairs there are in
Abruzzo each year. |
