Château de la Commanderie was
the former hospital/residence of the Kings of Malta. Here you will find
warm atmosphere, antique furniture, 18th century wood-panelling, and
Aubusson tapestries.
Château de la Commanderie is awash with family antiques and heirlooms,
unquestionable good taste prevails in every room and fresh flowers add
that touch of life and genuine attention. Bedrooms are divided among
four separate buildings, adding to the sense of intimacy. Rooms in
Château and Chalet are the more traditional with carved wooden beds and
gilt-framed mirrors, though some of them give onto a small road. The
Orangerie has rooms that, once you have negotiated the rather plain
corridors, look out over fine parkland and are deliciously peaceful. The
least expensive rooms are in the Petit Pavillion, on the road side.
The cuisine in tune with the place and the seasons. 10 minutes from the centre of
Grenoble, the atmosphere is that of an intimate family-run hotel. |
