Today is owned and managed by Comte Denis de Kergorlay, who being the oldest male in the family, inherited from his father according to the aristocratic tradition. Comte Denis was the first to decide opening the chateau as a private chateau receiving guests. Chateau de Canisy is absolutely magnificent, even pictures are not enough to describe it. The Chateau can host from 2 to 50 sleeping guests and up to 80 guests for banqueting. Canisy is the prefect location for private events such as family gathering, anniversaries, weddings…. It also proposes “exclusive” rental from 20 guests, so that they are just by their own, with and incredible “privacy”. Each room is different and there are no set prices . At Chateau de Canisy one can enjoy the splendor of the true “Vie de chateau” and feel at home. They simply try to give you the best room available, subject to availability. The magnificent park gives the opportunity to walk or bicycle around. We also have one of our pounds arranged for fishing. And our guests can play tennis, "pétanque" or "billard".... They choose their partners and they can propose to you very special arrangements like, massage, special entertainments such as horse riding in the park, clay shooting, fireworks, “jeux d’eaux” (water dance).... Chateau de Canisy is located in the heart of the Norman bocage in the wooded Cotentin peninsula, a region of France full of History. The chateau de Canisy is ideally located for those who wish to visit exceptional sites and historical monuments. Discover the world renowned Mont Saint Michel (50 minutes from Canisy), the Landing Beaches of D.Day, (Canisy is 40 minutes away from Sainte Mère l'Eglise, Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and 50 minutes from Arromanches).
All of those sites are vivid memories of that crucial battle that led to the end of World War II, and they offer outstanding memorial museums. Do not forget to visit Bayeux, a small town famous for its magnificent cathedral and world renowned tapestry of Reine Mathilde, that relates the conquest of England by Wilhelm the Conqueror. From Paris: Take Autoroute A13 in direction Rouen-Caen, at Caen take road N13 in direction Cherbourg - Bayeux.
From Bayeux: Take D 572 direction of St. Lo, from there take the rocade (peripheral road) to D 999 in direction Villedieu. 2 Kms. after St. Lo, at Candol, after the rail road tracks, make a right to Canisy (D38) and a right at the first intersection onto D77. The entrance to the Chateau is the first small road on the right (300 Mts. from town).
