Ideally located 10 minutes from BRIVE la GAILLARDE in Corrèze, on the borders of the Limousin, Perigord, and Quercy, the Château de CASTEL NOVEL overlooks a vast estate including an arboretum of 25 acres. Built on a rock in the 13th and 15th centuries its overall architecture dates from the 18th century. After having belonged to several of the region’s great families the château became the property of Henri de Jouvenel. A talented journalist and influential politician he married the famous writer COLETTE, who wrote several of her novels at Castel Novel. The property was acquired in 1956 by Raymond and Yvette PARVEAUX who transformed it into a high-quality hotel-restaurant. After studying at the Ecole Hôtelière of Paris and gaining some experience abroad their son, Albert, stepped into their shoes. With his wife, Christine, herself also a child of hotel-and-restaurant owners from Provence, they would develop and embellish Castel Novel. Today their eldest daughter, Sophie PARVEAUX SOULIE, armed with a solid professional education, receives the guests as friends. “Simple luxury” remains the credo of the place. Nicolas SOULIE, her husband, is chef de cuisine.

The Château’s rooms and suites – of a very high standard of comfort – are decorated in varied and original ways. An outhouse of the château, 50 meters away from it. Its 10 rooms have slightly sloping ceilings, and are smaller. They all look over the park. They all offer the same facilities: Mini-bars, safes, televisions with international channels, air-conditioning, free internet access.
