Château le Rosey, a wine estate, boutique design hotel, offers a rich blend of tradition and modernity in a luxurious yet understated setting distinguished by unique architecture.
Château de Rosey lies above the village of Bursins, at the heart of the La Côte region, exactly half way between Geneva and Lausanne. Higher up, on the gentle wooded slopes that lead to the first foothills of the Jura Mountains lie four and a half hectares of vineyards.
It is known for a fact that the château was first built in the early 13th century in the rectangular fortress design known as the carré savoyard. It was then partially burned down, ravaged by wars, redesigned and expanded, undergoing several transformations through the centuries, culminating in its recent restoration. Today, having become a relais viticole with an orchard and kitchen garden, it has rediscovered its mediaeval vocation as a refuge, haven and stopping place.
Four rooms, with views of the vineyards and château courtyard, are linked by a corridor overlooking the village and the lake, which can be reached via a spiral staircase from the reception hall.
To the delight of our guests, life in the château revolves around wine making, gourmet evenings, twice-yearly wine tastings and personalized events.
The Château le Rosey showcases the notion of architecture, which encompasses restorations, landscaping, contemporary architecture, furniture design and decoration. All of the château's furniture and décor, from door handles to beds, and even the lamps and bottle coolers, are limited editions designed by Pierre Bouvier. He will be delighted to discuss your own projects, including renovation, conversion, interior design, decoration and the creation of bespoke furniture.
The Château le Rosey also provides guest accommodation. The hotel is delighted to offer four guest rooms.
Seminars, workshops, cookery classes, weddings, anniversaries, corporate dining, private soirées and wine tastings: the hotel can organize any type of bespoke event, with seating for up to 60 people, or aperitif and cocktail receptions for up to 120 people.

The south-facing vineyards are situated between 430 and 470 metres above sea-level. The entire hillside is in fact what is left of the right bank Rhône glacier moraine. The soil is a light to medium-light alkaline clay, both gravelly and sandy. The vine-stocks, some over thirty-five years old are pruned according to the Guyot medium-tall method. Planting stands at over 6,000 stocks per hectare.
All nine varieties of grapes grown on the estate are harvested by hand, in keeping with the le Rosey’s approach to wine-making based on close attention to detail and tradition.
All or part of the château can be made available to the guests for seminars or other private events. The great hall and reception, mediaeval room and chapel, wine cellars, seminar room, guest rooms, courtyards and garden can accommodate up to sixty people seated and around one hundred people standing.
