The 18 hole golf course of
Chateau des Vigiers was created by Donald Steel, a man known
for contributing to the design of some famous courses
worldwide, including the Jubilee and Eden courses at St.
Andrews.
The course is famous because of its enthralling setting
amidst plum trees, oak woods, lakes and vineyards.
They encourage the guests to take part in the weekly Golf
competitions on most Sundays during the season. |

Brasserie “Le
Chai”
The Brasserie is situated
in the old wine making building and retains the character and charm
of its historic origins including its impressive vaulted ceiling. In
the warm and relaxed atmosphere, golfers, families and their friends
gather in front of the open fire in winter or outside on the terrace
in the summer under the shade of an ancient walnut tree. The cuisine
serves lighter meals such as omelettes or salads as well full menus
including local specialities such as foie gras and confit de canard.
The Brasserie is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner whilst the
hotel is open. |

Gourmet
Restaurant “Les Fresques”
Situated in the West Wing
of the ancient château, the Fresques is adorned with Renaissance
style frescos. With a cosy and chic atmosphere, diners enjoy superb
views over the lake and a high standard of cuisine accompanied by
discreet and professional service. The menus are simple and
delicious and vary according to the season with an emphasis on
seafood and local produce. For aficionados of the Périgord, we
recommend the menu “Terroir et Tradition” which is created around
two of the most important ingredients in the region: duck and foie
gras. Open for dinner every night except Sunday and Monday. |

DORDOGNE AND CHATEAU DES VIGIERS |
| |
|
|
|
|
Château
des Vigiers is situated in South West France, about an hour's drive
East of Bordeaux in the Dordogne. The area is renowned for its
outstanding beauty, history and cultural heritage, as well as its
superior wines and culinary delights. It is the perfect base for
exploring the mediaeval towns of Sarlat and the Périgord Noir to the
East, the wine capital of Saint Emilion to the West, and also the
world famous prehistoric cave paintings at Lascaux and the Dordogne
valley with its thousand Châteaux.
A tranquil, "back to nature" setting ideal for relaxation is
offered. The climate is temperate and the winters mild; indeed
Bordeaux is just a 2 hour drive from the Spanish border. Our
multilingual staff are delighted to organise visits to sample the
produce at the AOC vineyards of Bordeaux and Bergerac, or enjoy the
many local markets, where you can buy truffles, cèpes, and foie
gras.
All in all, this is definitely the place for golfers and non golfers
alike to unwind in a stress free, unspoilt and temperate
environment. Interestingly, less than fifty percent of our guests
actually play golf, so there is no need for non golfers to feel left
out. |
