Hotel Quinta Das Lágrimas gets its name from the romantic legend of the forbidden love between the son of King D. Alfonso IV and Inês de Castro, a gallician lady. It is said that they secretly met in te wooded gardens, where later on she was murdered and her tears, were transformed into a pure, fresh stream of water, hence the name of the hotel, Quinta das Lágrimas (House of Tears).
