Tucked away
down a lane in Palma's busy old quarter,
enclosed by narrow
streets and landscaped courtyards,
where you can enjoy
fashionable shopping, stylish bars, cafes and restaurants, and all the
sights of a historic city, Hotel Convent de la Missio is a new addition
to the handful of city centre hotels, that were once grand buildings or
palaces. As its name suggests, during three years a XVII century convent
was beautifully renovated to
fulfil the needs of a
modern residence and
into Palma's most stylish and sophisticated hotel. An opaque glass
entrance introduces guests to a spectacular lobby, where the use of
light and space is exceptional. The original high vaulted ceilings and
limestone walls have been retained and fused with cutting edge design,
natural materials and large windows, cleverly integrating some original
features into the modern style. In this masterpiece of design
every detail is just right, in the form, the materials, the furnishings
and the decoration. The guest rooms are havens of peace. Light and airy,
in shades of cream with pale oak floors, some have modern
four-poster beds romantically draped with swathes of white muslin.
Other delights include a Zen-inspired roof terrace, a whirlpool and
sauna down in the old crypt and an art gallery featuring ceramic and
photo exhibitions, not to mention its Refectori Restaurant, well known
in Palma. In a simple, yet sophisticated ambience with a
waterfall and palm trees, creative cooking, mixing colours and flavours
in an incomparable atmosphere, is served to pamper every gourmet palate. |
