Berlin's first luxury boutique hotel. Situated in the diplomatic district, the Das Stue hotel is right in the centre of Germany's capital. Nestled in the lush Tiergarten park and adjacent to the Zoo, it is only a short drive from all the shopping, art & entertainment hot spots in both East and West Berlin.
Das Stue was renovated to invoke a calming ambience, with open spaces and contemporary minimalist design. The Potsdam based firm Axthelm Architekten added a new wing on the building’s former back courtyard, which is clad in a floral patterned photo concrete surface acting as an elegant counterbalance to the rough dressed stone of the main building.
While Patricia Urquiola artistically directed and designed all public spaces and fluidly integrated shared spaces such as the lobby, cocktail bar and restaurants, LVG Arquitectura finalized the interior room and suite design.
Das Stue’s daylight Spa, which opens its doors to the courtyard when the first rays of sunlight emerge, offers three treatment rooms, an indoor swimming pool, as well as a glass sauna and gym. In addition to the wellness centre, two intimate library lounges offer guests a private and elegant retreat to relax.
Each of the 78 guestrooms is outfitted in subdued modern decor that emphasizes polished surfaces and rich fabrics. The rooms are designed to recall the open spaces of villa environments, complemented by high ceilings, hardwood floors and views of the adjacent Tiergarten; 11 rooms feature terraces and balconies.

Bel Etage Salon
Located next to the historic stairwell and the library, the central Bel Etage Salon is the perfect location for cocktail receptions or private dinners, small meetings or press conferences. The reception rooms of the former Danish embassy were located here, and today original 1940’s lights still remain.
It is a particularly elegant setting, with almost five-metre high ceilings, a 50m² terrace, and quaint details such as an original Man Ray photograph. Das Stue has basic technical equipment; additional equipment can be arranged.
Elegant original parquet floors, French doors, restored hardware and streaming light are contrasted with Patricia Urquiola’s eyecatching, comfortable seating arrangements – making this a staircase-turned-three-story library featuring an array of books on the topics of art, architecture, creative culture, and (befitting a zoo) animals. Craftwork, photos and Cajons from Panama give a definitive splash of vivid colours to the third floor.
All floors provide an ideal setting for coffee or tea breaks, break-out sessions or the informal after-meeting discussion.
Tiergarten in Berlin refers to the parliamentary, government and diplomatic district, as well as to Berlin’s largest and most popular inner-city park (210 hectares / 520 acres). The Tiergarten (German for ‘Animal Park’) is a former royal hunting ground. Nowadays it is a wonderful place for a stroll, a breath of fresh air, a picnic, cycling, just kicking a ball around, or, of course, a jog.
Depending on your route, it is possible to see many of Berlin’s attractions while jogging around the park- The Reichstag Building, The Berlin Philharmonic, Monument for the Fallen Soldiers of the Red Army, The Brandenburger Tor, The Victory Column, Bellevue Palace, The German Chancellery, and the many embassies of the diplomatic quarter.

Plus they charge the hotel a commission which is normally around 20% of the room rate
