Domaine de Bassibe is located in
the village of Segos. The owners Sylvie and Olivier Lacroix, as a young
couple with long experience, decided 10 years ago to rejuvenate this
charming grange, set in extensive grounds in rolling countryside. They
added new rooms and tastefully transformed the interiors of the
character 18th century buildings to create an elegant Inn-hotel, open
9/10 months of the years. Earthen red tiles and elegant white façades
gleaming in the afternoon sun, sylvan green ivy creepers framing the
shutters: the colours of this spacious, picturesque residence appear to
have been lifted from an artist’s palette.
Welcoming their guests as friends, Sylvie & Olivier Lacroix lead a team
of attentive staff eager to please and to ensure that all have an
agreeable stay at Bassibe. There is a choice of accommodations in suites
or double and single rooms, all of them comfortable, quiet, well-equipped
and welcoming. Open log fires heat the lounges in the original, stone-built
farmhouse and also in the restaurant, a former press house and barn with
exposed oak beams. The surrounding gardens, with mature trees of Oak,
lime and plane, have beds planted with flowers and shrubs and extend to
over 10 acres, offering pleasant walks through the Gers countryside.
Dinner, served in the old wine press or beneath the plane trees,
features the rich traditional cuisine of the Gers region enhanced by
excellent local wines: Madiran, Jurançon and Tursan. |
