From Europe to Thessaloniki by car: If you are traveling by ferry from Bari, Ancona, Brindisi, or Venice, Italy, you will arrive at the city of Igoumenitsa, on the West coast of Greece. Once in Igoumenitsa, proceed in the direction of the city of Ioannina. From Ioannina, follow the signs to Thessaloniki. Total travelling distance from Igoumenitsa to Thessaloniki is 452 Km or about 6 hours. It may seem long, but the scenery through mountainous Greece is well worth it. Alternatively, from Italy, you may reach the southern Greek port of Patras, instead of Igoumenitsa. If so, use a map to the following course: From Patras (taking the road to Athens), to Rio, crossing to Antirio (via the new longest suspension bridge of Europe), on to Amfissa and then Lamia, where you will join the Athens-Thessaloniki Highway, turning North to Thessaloniki. (The Patras to Thessaloniki drive is 488 Km or about 6 hours.) From Thessaloniki to Ouranoupoli by car: Once you reach Thessaloniki, you will have to use Egantia Ave. towards the East exit of the city. Use the Thermi / Airport / Poligiros / Agion Oros exit and head towards Thermi, Ag. Prodromos, Arnea, Stratoniki and Ierissos. Follow the road towards Ouranoupoli and Ag. Oros (Holy Mount). Eagles Palace Hotel is 129 km (1,5 hours) from Thessaloniki with an amazing variety of scenery and historical sites on the way. It is also the shortest route to get there. |
