La Seu d'Urgell lies in the heart of
the high Catalan Pyrenees, in the Valley of the Segre river, ten
kilometres away from Andorra and forty-five kilometres from the
French border. It is the capital town of the Alt Urgell district. La
Seu takes up the centre of a small alluvial plain bordered to the
south by the Cadí mountain range and on the north by the
mountaintops of the axial Pyrenees.
In La Seu d'Urgell, every Tuesday and Saturday the streets of the
historic centre change into an extensive market, lively and
easygoing, where the country products, brought along directly by the
farmers from the mountains, each having their own space at Patalín
square. Moreover, at the market of La Seu you can browse the more
than hundred stalls spread out over the Canonges and Major streets
and Oms square.
La Seu d'Urgell has a natural
dedication to tourism, due to its rich source of touristic options -nature,
cultural heritage, sports activities, cultural and popular
manifestations, gastronomy...- as well as to its central location in
the High Catalan Pyrenees. At a few kilometres from La Seu, you can
