Finca Santa Marta

For many years the Finca Santa Marta has been gaining fame in birdwatching and wildlife circles as an ideal base to see an enormous variety of birds and other wildlife of interest, whether immediately in the vicinity of the Finca itself, or on excursions to nearby spots.

All within a 50 miles radius, the nearby medieval towns of Trujillo, Cáceres, Guadalupe, Plasencia, and the Roman town of Mérida are worth a visit.
For example, the quality of light and the patina on the granite-built medieval town of Trujillo with its age-old roof tiles, sheltering 10,000 inhabitants, fascinate present day artists. Its Plaza Mayor  known as  "one of the most charming and appealing in the country."  invites to sit, and wander around the town. The charming winding stone streets, the convents and splendid mansions provide a sense of tranquillity and being in the old ages. 
If you are driving through unspoilt nature, passing through age-old towns like Garciaz, Aldeacentenera, Berzocana and Cañamero towards Guadalupe is a good route to take.
For the active guests, at the lakes of Orellana and Garcia Sola,  watersports are now being actively developed.
