Not too far away, about a ten minute walk , you can see a majestic medieval castle, nineteenth century villas with cypress-lined drives... or a stone church of the year 1000, so romantic that it is often chosen to celebrate weddings. A pleasant walk of 8 km through the countryside brings you to the small warm springs of Acqua Borra, already well-known in 1600 for their healing properties. After bathing in the 37° C water, you can follow the well marked foothpath to the top of the hill at Monteaperti. For serious cyclists, there is the ride through the "Crete" with breath-taking views at every turn and best seen against the setting sun.

Siena is one of the finest examples of a medieval city, therefore it's a great starting point for your visits to its wonderful surroundings. It is situated 322 mt above the sea level, in the heart of Tuscany and  has kept its typical medieval appearance untouched, with narrow alleys and noble palaces, surrounded by a beautiful hill landscape. Siena is an ancient medieval town, that was born on three hills and was enclosed by walls. The undisputed symbol of the town is the tower Torre del Mangia, in the renowed Piazza del Campo, that has been the theatre of the Palio for many centuries. The surroundings  offers to the tourist a large range of itineraries to discover natural and untouched landscapes, perfectly conserved medieval villages, archaeological places, art cities like Florence, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and so on.
Only 80 kms away from the lodge you will find the beautiful city of Florence. If you're planning to visit it , in a daytrip  during your stay with us,  let us know at least one month in advance, and we'll book the tickets for you,  for one or more of the Florentine Museums (Uffizi, Accademia, Medician Chapels and so on) which have discouraging queues
