The Winner Restaurant
The Golden Palace has
succeeded in creating a truly special internal restaurant.
Natural light streams in through the large bow window giving
onto the internal courtyard, illuminating the wood used in
the central buffet, tables and chairs. A relaxing and very
pleasant garden for breakfast and lunch during the warm
months.
The kitchen is in the expert hands of Giuseppe Zuccaro. A
menu of sophisticated naturalness proposes dishes that are
light but do not skimp on flavour. The local ingredients
dear to the chef are offered in new combinations, integrated
with aromas and spices from afar. A cuisine where experience
and contemporary spirit are a single thing, to pander to the
expectations of the most refined palates. |

The Time Bar
A space where time is pace and pleasure, signal, rhythm,
pause. Digital clocks tick off the most important Olympic
records, while behind the brown antique marble bar is an
enormous golden clock ring with prominent notches
corresponding to five-minute intervals in back-lit
transparent Plexiglas. Aubergine tones were chosen for the
large wall sofa, done in mohair velvet with a circle print,
contrasting with the turtle-dove grey hues of round and
square armchairs with a floral print velvet. A warm and
essential play of colours underscored by the chocolate-coloured
rosewood of the panelling. |

ABOUT TURIN |
|
|
More confident,
more sociable, more open to the world. So is the Turin that
faces the Olympic Games and which in February 2006 will be
the planet around which Sestrière and its sister towns will
revolve like sparkling satellites. Setting aside its
proverbial reserve, Turin is coming out in the open,
determined to assert itself in new areas and ready to play
its best cards.
Reserved, conservative Turin is now a mature city, in full
metamorphosis. A subway, efficient new urban rail
connections, big underpasses and car parks are nothing more
than the most evident signs of its restyling. Which is not
only structural but cultural as well, in support of the
tourism that now seems to have won the city over and of
which the Olympics are only the first stage. Starting with
Piazza Castello, the “Medal Plaza” that will be the hub of
the official ceremonies for the Games, which by year’s end
will have completed the work on Palazzo Madama, designated
as headquarters of TOROC – the Turin Olympic Winter Games
Organising Committee – and open to the public. |
