The house was built in the
13th century and served the Franciscan monks as a bread house. In the
cellar they stored the wine. The renovations of the hotel preserved the
costly treasures and all that makes it a protected monument.
In 1474 emperor Friedrich and four advisors visited Rothenburg and
stayed in two adjoining buildings on Herrngasse, numbers 15 and 13. The
houses were located near the Franziskaner monastery and the medieval
cattle market. Number 13, the Hotel Gotisches Haus was then known as the
Thomas Mayrin Haus. This event is recorded on the bronze plate found
today on house number 15. Subsequently, the son of the Roman Emerpor,
Crown prince Maximilius of Austria later to become
emperor lived in the houses together with his staff and servants.
Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere
and historic charm of our 13th-century mansion, the former residence of
crown princes. The hotel was recently restored with much love and close
attention to historic detail. Its 700 year old timber, natural stone and
spacious rooms are tastefully combined with the modern conveniences that
you would expect from a four star hotel. Each room has its own unique
story and flair, and lets you enter the medieval period to make
your stay in Rothenburg ob der Tauber unforgettable.
The hotel offers 11 exquiste rooms wich captures the style and charm of
medieval Rothenburg. Most of the rooms have great views of romantic
Rothenburg and two have terraces with outstanding views of the town and
surrounding, pastoral countryside. |
