Montecatini Golf course, located only 8 kilometres from the Grand Hotel,
almost 6.000 metres in length, is extremely stimulating for all golfers:
complex and undulating, five of the eighteen holes have water traps.
Built on Pievaccia soil with a longstanding historical tradition, this
course has one of the best natural conformations particularly suited to
the game of golf. Other interesting obstacles include ravines and thick
undergrowth.
Players can enjoy a particularly beautiful tee-off from hole 10,
situated above a lake. Thanks to the determination and commitment of its
founders, Montecatini Golf is one of the best spots in which to combine
Golf and tourism. Golfers can match themselves, improve their technique
and relax in the magnificent scenery offered by this beautiful natural
area. The Montecatini Golf Club is closed on Tuesday. |

A summer resort, Montecatini (30 Kms.
east of Lucca) is a wealthy and popular watering-hole lying at the foot
of the Pistoian mountains. The baths and spas date back to the
fourteenth century and nowadays there are nine fully-functioning 'terme'
spread around the town.

include Rossini, Verdi, Princess Grace, Orson Welles, Clark Gable,
Douglas Fairbanks and assorted European royalty. Verdi was particularly

The suburbs ain't much, but the centre and the Parco delle Terme are
delightful, and if designer shopping is your bag (Prada, natch) then
you're in for a treat. The Terme Tettucio is perhaps the most famous and
is typical of the town's belle-epoque ambience. Built in the style of
Imperial Rome, it lies a few minutes walk from the delightful funicular
railway that will take you up to Montecatini Alto. |
