The inspiration that comes from the sea
Acclaimed Chef Antoine Westermann introduced in 1998 a French fine dining restaurant concept, which quickly became a reference in Portugal.
Originally with a classic French concept , have now , since the arrival of our Chef Miguel Rocha Vieira in summer 2015 , Portuguese products and traditions been gaining prominence at Fortaleza do Guincho.
His philosophy is based and inspired by the Atlantic, the background setting of the Hotel. The best fish and seafood from the Portuguese coast as well as highest quality of local and national products are a constant on the Guincho table, honoured and created in every dish, every season, recognized by national and international press and critics.
In 2001 the restaurant received a 1Michelin, held until today.
Open daily from 12h30 to 15h00 and from 19h30 to 22h30
Miguel Vieira, 39 years old, was born and lived in Cascais up to to the age of 19, when he headed to London to study gastronomy at the prestigious cooking school "Le Cordon Bleu".Since then, with a solid education and background in classic French cuisine, he worked in top restaurants in England, France and Spain, until he arrived in Budapest in 2008 to open the "Costes" restaurant, where he won the first and then only Michelin star in Hungary in 2010.
His performance as a judge in the Masterchef Portugal TV Show earned him the admiration and respect of the general public. Miguel Vieira is the first Portuguese Chef to assume the leadership of one of the most prestigious and influential cuisine in the country, whose foundation was a classic French cuisine, when it opened in 1998.
The bar and the terrace of Fortaleza do Guincho is the perfect place for a delicious and light meal. The menu offers a selection of sandwiches, salads and the Chef’s daily suggestion. Any item on the menu calls for a fresh draft beer or a glass of wine, with the ocean as the backdrop.
In summer our terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean invites you to enjoy a drink, meal or an aperitif before dinner ; during winter there is nothing like staying in the comfort of our " Sala das Damas " or library lounge with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
We recommend to experience our Five o' clock tea with homemade cakes, scones and some other delicious sweets.
The bar is open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight.
Please fill this form for individuals or for groups and you shall receive an answer written by a live person at Fortaleza do Guincho Hotel e Restaurante. This is the only way you can know exactly what room types are available for the dates you want, and the best possible rate, because you are dealing directly with the hotel.
Bear in mind that websites set up to give an automatic answer, work with allocated quotas given by the hotel, therefore when it appears there are no rooms available for the date you want, this is not necessarily true, because they never allocate ALL the rooms to third parties.
To arrive there you can take the A5 to Cascais. Then take EN91, at the first roundabout follow signs to Birre. At the second roundabout, you have to follow the signs to Torre until you reach the sea. Turn right, continue for 6 Kms. till you reach the fortress on the left.
