The upper floor is reached by a
stairway with 16th century banisters. Here, in the anteroom to
the function room, we can see a replica of the "Storm over
Toledo" by El Greco. The function room has an irregular shape.
It is in neo-classical style, with a fireplace as a centrepiece,
and is replete with prints of National Calligraphy, accompanied
by two Cordova armchairs.

The luxuriant garden with terrace,
a replica of the gardens of the Generalife de la Alhambra, in
the city of Cordova, is laid out with hanging fountains,
enclosed by rows of cypress trees. On the lower level of its
stepped gardens, the centuries-old mulberry trees, "alibustre"
hedges and "pezea" plants, give way to the building, based on
the Castilian-Mudejar style of the church of Santiago el Mayor,
where we find the restaurant.
The main granite stairway leads to the "Mezquita" (Mosque)
dining room - it follows the layout of the mosque in the street
of TornerĂas.
Around a central opening, the dining room is distributed in
eight areas finished alternatively with star-motif Mudejar
craftwork and octagonal domes, from which a replica of a 17th
century Spanish galleon lantern is hung. |

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW |

Spain has one of the world's
greatest historical and artistic heritages, and Toledo is one of
its best examples.
Designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO, the city of Toledo
is Spain's most splendid melting pot for Jewish, Islamic and
Christian culture.
Located in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula, it has been
witness to, and has participated in epic historical events. It
is an admirable synthesis of everything Spanish, and a
compendium, like no other city, of Spain's history.
Just 70 km to the south of Madrid, on the right side of the Tajo
River, which traces a deep moat around the city, it presents its
extraordinary silhouette to the visitor just as El Greco painted
it at the end of the 16th century. |
