Attractions Around the Hotel
Musée du Louvre: Located
in Paris, the Louvre is one of the largest palaces in the world and, as a
former residence of the kings of France, one of the most illustrious. It
exemplifies traditional French architecture since the Renaissance, and it
houses a magnificent collection of ancient and Western art.
Notre Dame:
Located in the center of "old" Paris, Notre Dame is flanked by two branches
of the Seine River. Like many Gothic cathedrals, it is named for the Virgin
Mary.
The Notre-Dame cathedral is a must of European Gothic art and dates
back to the 13th century. Its long ship-like architecture is a testimony of
the fervor of Christian faith in France through the Middle Ages.
OTHER PLACES IN PARIS
Church of the Invalides: Its building started in
1671 under the reign of King Louis the XIVth, and
about 30 years later. From its inception, the place
was designed to serve as a home to impoverished
soldiers and wounded veterans of the French army. It
comprises the veteran hospital itself, a church,
several museums, and the tomb of Napoleon I.
