On a summer’s day, to sit on the shady terrace facing the lake and the Alps verges on bliss.

What would the surroundings be without the food? Son of an innkeeper, trained as a chef, Toni Mittermair devotes particular care to the pleasures of the palate. A demanding connoisseur, he personally chooses his products from the market gardener, the fisherman, the breeder and the wine grower. So the Hotel Victoria restaurant offers delicious cooking, the creation of fitness, personality and sincerity. The cellars are stocked with great vintages and pleasant surprises from the best vineyards in the world.

Lake GenevaIt is the largest lake in western Europe. Lake Geneva ( also known as Lac Léman) is a crescent shaped lake 45 miles (70 km) long, on the Swiss-French border, between the Alps and the Jura mountains. The water flows from the Lake at Geneva, eventually to the Rhone Valley and thence to the Mediterranean.

Noted for its deep blue and remarkly transparent waters, the lake is dotted with numerous resorts and villas. The northern (Swiss) shore is bounded by sloping vineyards and orchards.

The lake is subject to tidal fluctuations that suddenly change its level. A region of great scenic beauty, Lake Geneva has been the favourite theme of many writers ( notably Rousseau and Byron). Lausanne and Montreux are large lakeside cities quite near to Glion !

Water sports such as sailing, water skiing, rowing, canoeing, surfing and swimming can be practised on Lake Geneva. It is also a paradise for fisher men whether lakeside or on a boat.
