Hotel Eden is one of Rome's top
choice for the discerning traveller who likes grand comfort without all
the ostentation. It was bought by Trusthouse Forte in 1989 and for
several generations after its opening, this hotel, about a
10-minute walk east of the Spanish Steps, reigned over one of the
world's most stylish shopping neighbourhoods. Hemingway, Callas,
Ingrid Bergman, Fellini--all checked in during its heyday. The
Eden's hilltop position guarantees a panoramic city view from most guest
rooms; all are spacious and elegantly appointed with a decor harking
back to the late 19th century, plus marble-sheathed bathrooms with
deluxe toiletries and makeup mirrors. Try to get one of the front rooms
with a balcony boasting views over Rome. The hotel's restaurant, La
Terrazza dell’Eden, is one of the best in Rome. |
