Zaragoza is the fifth largest city in Spain in terms of population,
with over 600,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Autonomous
Community of Aragón and draws people from the rest of Aragón as well
as from neighbouring Autonomous Communities such as Castilla-León,
La Rioja, Navarre and Valencia. The urban structure of Zaragoza has
been modified around the historic centre, situated on the right bank
of the Ebro. Zaragoza has a pleasant climate, with average
temperatures in July around 25ºC. In winter, the temperature rarely
falls below 0ºC. It is a fairly dry climate, with an average
rainfall of 38 mm. in May. This low rainfall is due to a continental
climate and to the wind that blows along the Ebro Valley, known as
the "Cierzo". Zaragoza is a city without compare. Her Iberian, Roman,
Moslem and Christian history has gradually lent form to her present,
to make her a city that is not only beautiful but full of surprises. |
