Royal Botanical Gardens: Located just a short stroll from the Hotel Ritz is the Royal Botanical Gardens, founded in the 18th century, the garden contains more than 104 species of trees and 3,000 types of plants. Also on the premises are an exhibition hall and a library specializing in botany.

Queen Sofia Modern Art Centre: Opened in 1992 by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía the Centre houses the Permanent Collection of the National Museum and contains the very best of Spain's modern art movement including Salvador Dali, amongst many others.
