"My wife Sue and I wanted to write and thank you and all the other marvelous staff at the Hotel Splendid for the help and care you gave me when, on the sixth day of our stay at the hotel (on September 2, 2007) I developed bad back problems. As Sue and I have told all our friends, if you are going to be stuck in bed for 10 days, able only to move a little bit, there's nowhere in the world one would rather be than at the Hotel Splendid. Not only did you find a doctor to make three visits to the room and arrange for me to have anti- inflammatory and pain medication, and extend our stay as long as we needed for me to get well enough to be able to fly home, but you provided marvelous food as room service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Indeed, my only regret is that we were not at the hotel long enough to try every item on the menu -- though we certainly did our best in the time that we did have. Moreover, I could walk far enough to get to the balcony of our lovely room and look at the lake and the mountains. That made being bedridden much more tolerable. I have some especially beautiful photos of sunrises taken from our balcony (room 210), one of which I have attached.
Sue and I do not know the names of all the great people who helped us during this difficult period, but we did want to thank by name a number of people whom we always remember fondly, yourself, of course included: Kathy, Sylvia and Teresa at the desk, Emi in the bar, and Marcello, Roberto, Giuseppe and Leonardo (here we're not sure we have the name right) of the restaurant staff.
Sue and I very much hope that we will once again have the pleasure of staying at your hotel the next time we are in Italy. We love the Lake Maggiore area and we really love your hotel and its kind staff."
