If you are a fan of chintzy
bedspreads, swirly wallpaper and faux gold plate bathroom fittings found
the world over in hotels, then this is not the place for you. The Hotel
AC Diplomatic is very cool and stylish, with sleek and modern / retro
styling, throughout. For just a little more than your average cheapish
hotel, the Hotel AC Diplomatic is well worth the money. And if you pay little
more for the upgraded room you get little extras like a funky CD player
and a bathroom to lie back in on the most enormous and groovy bed I've
ever seen, following a lengthy hot shower / bath under an enormous,
powerful robe. The staff is absolutely friendly with a very courteous
concierge escorting you and the luggage to the room while explaining the
hotel's many free services including a lovely little rooftop swimming
pool and sauna. After a long day tracking around Barcelona in summer
this pool would be lovely as the sun went down. The Hotel AC Diplomatic really does
deserve it's four stars as it has all those little extras like an array
of complimentary bits and bobs in the bathroom including men's grooming
items, shoe shine etc, and the free soft drink / juice (and two beers!)
mini-bar is great first thing in the morning (not the beers). It is also
nice to come back to a little chocky and turn downed bed. The view in the Hotel AC Diplomatic is
nothing to write home about, but other than that I couldn't think of as
better location, as it feels very safe yet just off El Paseo de Gracia,
right near some of the best shops e.g. Burberry, but easily within
striking distance of Las Ramblas and lots of great places to eat and go
out. Also the Hotel AC Diplomatic is very close to the nearest tube / underground which in turn has
a direct link to the airport - great for lugging those heavy bags full
of bargains back home. Great place to stay for that special short break
for shopping and going out, would highly recommend it. |
