Le Café Metropol/The Cafeteria

Its interiorism is a homage to Bauhaus and the designers who stood out in the 20's of the 20th Century. This is why it's expressed in black and white and uses stainless steel, a material that reflects the trust in new technology that moved them. The crystallised closing turns into an open view of the urban street with the Guggenheim in full view.

Splash & Crash. The Cocktail Lounge

Splash & Crash. The Cocktail Lounge

Red and white characterises its interior. The colours evoke the passion and purity that were necessary to believe in the ideals that were forged in the 70's, the epoch that inspired its decoration. This is a place thought out so one can express themselves openly over a good drink, listening to good music and enjoying a good late night atmosphere.

Buenasvistas Terrace. The Lookout Terrace

A large terrace paved with teakwood from where unusual views of the Guggenheim and the Ría can be taken in, and a covered zone by a copper-latticed canopy that shelters those wishing to shelter high up, allowing the appreciation of the geography of a place where modernisation doesn't prevent the natural countryside from strongly coming forth from where the urban landscape is interrupted. From the Buenasvistas Terrace, in the heights and the fresh air, the world is perceived from a serene distance.

Txoko Tranquilo Corner. The Reading Corner

Txoko Tranquilo Corner. The Reading Corner

This is the space which best pays homage to the design of the 20th Century. A place that, far from looking like an exposition of objects of design, manages to establish a relaxing dialogue, filled with warmth, so that you can read or converse upon the grass calmly. A chimney lit up in winter warms the atmosphere and makes it even more welcoming. In the Txoko Tranquilo Corner a library has been created with titles related to design, architecture and interiorism.

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (a satellite of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York) is one of the most important ingredients in the plan to redevelop the city of Bilbao.
Designed by the North American architect Frank O. Gehry, this unique Museum built on a 32,500 square meter site in the center of Bilbao represents an amazing construction feat. On one side it runs down to the waterside of the Nervión River, 16 meters below the level of the rest of the city of Bilbao. One end is pierced through by the huge Puente de La Salve, one of the main access routes into the city.
In addition to the temporary exhibitions it organises on a regular basis, the museum has a permanent collection of works belonging to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Together, these two collections represent a major overview of the art and artists of the 20th-century.
