With
a 585 hectare ski area - covering 150 Kms. of ski slopes, which are
part of the world's biggest ski area "The Three Valleys" (600 Kms.
of ski slopes) - the resort has excellent infrastructure. There are
also 66 Kms. of tracks to delight cross-country skiers and 19 Kms.
of signposted footpaths for hikers. Courchevel also has three ski-jumps
for the daring, a 2 Kms. sledge run, a covered Olympic skating rink,
an indoor climbing rock, a 39 metre artificial ice climbing
structure, a go-kart on ice track. There are also possibilities of
taking flying lessons, paragliding and hot-air balloon rides, or
trying out coming down the mountain on snow descent bikes or rafts,
taking a quad bike or snowmobile ride, and of course mountaineering.
A large scale property project, the Kilimandjaro has had the
advantage since December 2001 of the proximity of a new 6-seater
releasable chair-lift which links the upper part of the resort to
the 102 slopes of the Courchevel ski area.
The Société des 3 Vallées company (the ski-lift operator for the
whole of Courchevel ski area) has decided to make the Pralong area
more accessible, particularly for children and beginners. Therefore,
thanks to new equipment, skiers of all levels will be able to reach
the whole of the Courchevel ski area, as well as the 3 Valleys and
Méribel, from the upper part of the resort. The Pralong area, which
is currently being redeveloped, will thus be equipped with new lifts
capable of carrying 2700 people per hour. |
