is the administrative capital of the Valencian community and
the centre of the region of L'Horta. Known as the city where
El Cid fought against the moors, and the land of flowers,
has many attractions cultural as well as historical.
Sightseeing around the city begins in the old quarter, which
was until the mid-nineteenth century, defended by a
wall, and where the cathedral stands. Other places that
should be visited while in Valencia are:
City of the Arts and Sciences (2 km) - Characterized by
an amazing modern
architecture. It is divided into five mayor sites: Arts Palace (
not opened yet ), L'Umbracle ( walkway and garden ),
L'Hemisferic ( IMAX planetarium ), Science Museum
Palau de la Musica (8 km) - On the east bank of the
ancient Turia riverbed is Valencia's concert hall, the Palau de
la Música, offering an incomparable setting for staging musical
and cultural activities.
Exhibition Centre (10 km) - The trade fair
institution called Feria Valencia is a pioneering event
organizer in Spain, holding over forty trade fairs each year,
attended by some 10,000 exhibitors from around the world and one
million trade visitors.
