Hotel NH Nacional was built
around 1900 to house the hundreds of passengers flooding into Madrid
through the nearby Atocha railway station. In 1997, much of the
building's dowdy interior was ripped out, reconstructing the public
areas and bedrooms into a smooth, seamless decor that takes maximum
advantage of the building's tall ceilings and large spaces. In the
bedrooms of Hotel NH Nacional, the Belle-Epoque trappings of another day
have been replaced with modern designer decor, even avant-garde art,
giving the units a welcoming ambience. Rooms also come equipped with
immaculately kept bathrooms containing tub/shower combos. The
comfortable and elegantly decorated bedrooms of Hotel NH Nacional all have
stylish parquet floors. Those on the seventh floor have terraces as well.
If you're in Madrid to visit the art galleries, this four-star hotel is
a good choice located just opposite to the Reina Sofía Gallery and the
two other major art galleries: Prado Museum and Thyssen Museum, are
within easy walking distance. The same goes for Puerta del Sol, just a
15 minute walk from here. Needless to say, this is the perfect place to
stay if you are travelling by train having the Atocha Station across the
street. |
