Hotel Obispo is located on the
same name street, one of the oldest streets in Hondarribia. At the end
of the street you get to the "Torre Urbana de Palencia" House, also
called Echevestenea, which is 3 floors tall and attic. The roof is
classic and the walls are made of ashlars stone and rubblework. Its side
wall with beautiful ogival windows and the projecting exterior stairs
give the house a nice romantic atmosphere with all the dispositions of a
great civilian house. Mr. Cristobal Rojas & Sandoval was born in this
house in 1502. He followed a religious career and became Bishop - Obispo
- of Oviedo, Badajoz and Cordoba, as well as Archbishop of Sevilla.
Today the Hotel Obispo is a Palace XIV-XV Century, located in the
southeast of the old part of the city, within the ramparts. Inside,
there are 17 rooms, all of them unique, plus a living room with a
fireplace, porch and spacious terrace with a great view. The combination
of a historic building and the decoration in lively colours makes this
an exclusive place to stay. |
