The Hotel Real was built in 1917 in the neo-French style of the great
European palaces at the initiative of citizens of Santander. It was
built in honour of King Alfonso XIII and to house His Majesty’s court.
It is situated on a hill in the elegant residential area of Santander.
Surrounded by its own gardens, the Hotel Real commands spectacular views
over the bay of Santander, the Atlantic Ocean, mountains, and fine sandy
beaches, located within short walking distance. Close to the Magdalena
Palace, the Casino and the Festival & Congress Hall, it has been
completely renovated recently and has 114 spacious guestrooms and 9
luxury suites, all with views and above all spacious, filled with light
and equipped with all modern comforts. Classic furnishings of fine wood,
including some restored pieces from the beginning of the 20th century and
beautiful period upholstery. The Royal Suite has 2 floor and is 50 m2, a
luxurious complex located in the cupola of the Hotel Real.
The "El Puntal" Restaurant is outstanding for its decoration in
accordance with the style of the building: light, large windows
overlooking the bay, harmony and elegance in its furnishing. Its
cuisine, based on the specific products available in each season, is
amongst the region's best and is backed up by numerous important
