VALDARNO HOTEL... FOUR STARS OFFERING EXCEPTIONAL HOSPITALITY
The structure lies in the small town of Montevarchi to the south of Florence, 3 km from the Valdarno exit of the A1 Milan - Rome motorway.
Situated at the centre of the most famous cities of art like Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Cortona and the area of Chianti, it is considered an excellent strategic point for business meetings and touristic-wine & food tours.
The town deserves an in-depth visit, especially if you want to explore the narrow little alleyways which intersect linking the various parts of the "almond" making the town planning conformation of its historic centre one on its own. The market still today, is held every Thursday, as it did eight centuries ago. A market that was of such importance as to impose its own unit of measure, the "Staio Montevarchino". The monuments which deserve a visit must include the Collegiate of San Lorenzo, which preserves the adulated Relic of the "Sacro Latte". In the adjoining Museum of Sacred Art, the little temple of Andrea della Robbia, dating 1505, is a work of art not to be missed.
The glory of Montevarchi is the Paleontological Museum housed in the ex-Convent of San Lodovico which preserves many rarities, including the whole skull of an age-old Mammuthus meridionalis.

The town of Montevarchi sprang up around 1100, near to a fortified Benedictine monastery founded by bishop Elempert of Arezzo. At first the castle belonged to the Marquess Bourbon del Monte di Santa Maria, then to the Count Guidi family. In 1273 ownership passed to the Signoria of Florence. One of the town's first "podestà" (mayor) was Brunetto Latini.
During the rule of the Medici, the town expanded considerably due to its flourishing agricultural trade and its wool and silk industries, controlled by the Woolmaker's Guild. Montevarchi remained under Florentine control until the end of the first half of the 18th century; then the town became part of the territory of Arezzo.
After the unification of Italy, it became an important centre for manufacture of felt hats and, during the post World War II period, of shoes, hats, ladies' and children's wear. Today it is still a clothes production hub, while also important in the production of electricity (one hydroelectric and one thermoelectric plant).
Please fill this form for individuals or for groups and you shall receive an answer written by a live person at Hotel Valdarno. This is the only way you can know exactly what room types are available for the dates you want, and the best possible rate, because you are dealing directly with the hotel.
Bear in mind that websites set up to give an automatic answer, work with allocated quotas given by the hotel, therefore when it appears there are no rooms available for the date you want, this is not necessarily true, because they never allocate ALL the rooms to third parties.
