The Hotel Huerto del Cura is the only one in Elche. This is a shoe-manufacturers town very near Alicante (Population: 200,000). Its amazing how without any competition, Huerto del Cural is run with extreme care. The building you see upon arriving, is just a front similar to any hotel, but on back are some of the most beautiful exuberant gardens, with one of the widest assortments of palm trees and other species, which were transplanted from practically every corner of the world! The Huerto del Cura all together comprises close to six acres, all beautifully landscaped with cottages scattered all throughout. In each cottage there is a group of rooms, most of them with outside entrance. The rooms of Huerto del Cura are comfortable, very clean and rather plain in decor. Needless to say the charm of this hotel is outdoors, walking through the gardens, playing a game of tennis in a court you can hardly tell is there because of the trees around it, or, spend the day at the large irregular swimming pool surrounded by beautiful palm trees, absolutely inviting... As a matter of fact, normally unless it rains, dinner is served by the pool of Huerto del Cura every night, except on Saturdays if there is a wedding. The hotel’s restaurant by the way, has nothing to envy from a fine Parisian restaurants. Except for the price, which is considerably less.
