PLACES TO VISIT

Gosnay and its charterhouses
A community of 1509 inhabitants located in the Pas-de-Calais, Gosnay has two charterhouses, which is particularly unusual. According to legend, they were built to silence the evil spirits!

The Mont Ste-Marie Charterhouse
This convent of religious sisters was built in the XIVth century, at the request of Thierry d'Hérichon, bishop of Arras.

The Bailiwick of Aire Sur-La-Lys
This former guardhouse in renaissance style was constructed in 1600. Today it contains the tourist office.

Arras
This town is renowned worldwide for its two great squares, an architectural ensemble that is unique in Europe. Their style is uniform but not monotonous: 155 dwellings, dating from the XVII th to the XVIII the century, punctuate this ensemble of 17,000m² with their columns.
