Set in the heart of the Alps, the Valais has more 4000-meter mountains than any of the other alpine regions. Most of these peaks were first summited at the beginning of the last century and that is where our story begins. Edward Whymper conquered the Matterhorn days ahead of an Italian team in 1865, our very own Grand Combin was first summited in 1857 and it is from this era that the inspiration for La Cordée des Alpes begins.
Over 100 years ago, every summer climber from all over Europe arrived in the Alps to attempt to summit unconquered mountains peaks. With them would arrive the Alps first tourists, spectators and walkers with travel trunks keen to enjoy summer in the Alps. The first hotels were built and the Swiss began developing their unparalleled sense of service and the alpine holiday experience was born. Shortly after, skiing became a sport. The first lifts were installed and ski holidays became the winter holiday of choice for Europe’s elite.
It is from this era, with an attention to the details of the moment, interpreted to meet the expectations of today’s travellers, that we have taken inspiration for the interior design of La Cordée des Alpes.

Our sauna and steam rooms are the perfect environments to relax, centred around a cold shower, relaxing stone bed and foot baths this spa scene is created to enable you to enjoy steam and sauna in the true alpine manner.
Once you have warmed up from a day on the snow in our state of the art sauna why not brave the snow outside. We like to sweat out all our stresses and then run into the snow! Going from a heated environment to a cold one, the body receives a lot of stimulation. This stimulation affects multiple areas of the body and doesn’t take a lot of time to do so. Even a 30 second dip in the cold snow is plenty to stimulate the circulation, nerves in the body and the brain, and to have a positive therapeutic effect on virtually every area of your health and well being. This is similar to the benefits of a plunge pool.

Using a wood burning Josper Oven to cook our meat, fish and vegetables, we work to provide authentic dishes that reflect our love of good taste.
Our motivation: produce wonderful food, bright fresh flavors based on a tradition of French cuisine but with a contemporary interpretation. We have a passion for local produce so wherever possible our chef Fabrice Taulier turn to our farming friends here in Switzerland and the Valais.
For a more spectacular experience we are pleased to offer you " the chef's table " which is an authentic insight into the intensity and art of the kitchen. Up to five guests can be seated at our chef's table.
Our restaurant is open for dinner only, however if you are enjoying the mountains we recommend the Ice Cube bar which is perfect if you want to have a quick drink or snack. It is situated at the Ruinettes lift station at 2200m.
Restaurant La Cordée is happy to offer you the possibility of private dining. Our restaurant can hold up to 110 guests, however for a more intimate experience we offer a private salon for up to 20 guests.
It is the ideal place for private receptions of any kind. Do you want to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries while you are in Verbier? Or are you just simply looking for a more private setting? Our private lounge is the perfect place for it.

Charter connection in winter and private Flights from the Sion airport.
Take the Simplon line to Martigny.
Then take the Martigny-Le Chable line.
From Le Châble take the gondola televerbier or the postal bus.

Take the A9/E62 highway to Martigny.
