Joigny, head in the direction of Pontigny
A magnificent Cistercian abbey church of the 12th-13th century, one
of the finest in France. The extremely beautiful white limestone
interior gives the abbey an exceptional luminosity. It is 119 meters
long and is situated at the transition between the Roman and Gothic
styles.
Chablis
Chablis is a town which lives according to the rhythm of the
vineyards, and its excellent wines are world-famous (visit of the
vineyards, wine-tasting). The Obédiencerie, where Chablis
wines were born, and its 13th century winepress, the gates of
Chablis.
Noyers sur Serein
The yellow house, which is the only homage to Schematism in France,
the municipal museum with its naive art collection, its medieval
streets, a town of stone and wood through which the Serein River
flows peacefully.
Arcy sur Cure
The Arcy caves are classified as an archaeological site. They are
made up of caves dug out by the Cure River: 11 prehistoric caves and
two decorated caves. Arcy is placed second in the world for its cave
paintings, just behind La Grotte Chauvet in the Ardèche department.
Visit of the Château du Chastenay (14th-18th century).
Auxerre
The old town and its small streets, the Clock Tower, Saint Etienne's
Cathedral, the Saint Germain Abbey, Saint Nicolas Square and its
museums.
