Alessandra ed Edmondo Segre have taken care in person of La Meridiana since 1983 to evolve it into a charming and sophisticated gem of hospitality immersed in the green inland of Liguria.
This romantic and relaxing hotel located halfway between Monaco and Portofino was designed and constructed in 1971 by Luisa Berto de Segre, a few years after her sister Teresa de Berto Galleani had built an eighteen hole golf course. Everything was designed in the style of nearby Provence: large arches and canopies, stone walls, antique tile roofs, warm and bright colors.
La Meridiana – the name chosen in honor of the nearby Castello del Carretto, known as “della meridiana” - opened its doors to guests in 1977 and already in 1978 joined the prestigious Relais & Chateaux chain.
Alessandra and Edmondo as genuine owners of the house, where luxury lies in hospitality and attention to detail, give the hotel a very personal elegance, full of authenticity, sharing with guests the fruits of their passions.
Interior decorations, gardening and flowers are the passions of Alessandra and pretty fresh flower arrangements are always present in the lobby and at the top of tables in the Restaurant.
Edmondo amazes with his endless wine list where you will find an exquisite selection of the best Italian wines with rare vintages of the most famous wine growers and most quoted emerging producers. Each evening Edmondo will welcome you in Il Rosmarino Restaurant or Il Bistrot to embark on a journey of discovery of Liguria. Born in Turin, he deeply loves Liguria and its unmistakable scents: the scent of thyme, sage and delicate basil. He is always in search of the best produce on the market, local artisans, most antique traditions. A discoverer of talents, Edmondo has embraced in his kitchen Carlo Cracco, Kasten Heidsieck, Ernst Knam, Luigi Taglienti.

There are many exciting things to discover in the outskirts of Garlenda and the valleys around Albenga. Small towns and villages may seem all alike to a hurried tourist, but it is actually the opposite: every hamlet has its own castle, its legends, its special features. We suggest that our guests try more than one of the possible itineraries if they really want to appreciate the many faces of Liguria.
Children of all ages are warmly welcome. The grounds offer a wonderful playground with activities ranging from swimming, tennis, horseback riding, biking and more. We provide children menus, video room with DVD library, board games, colouring books, high chairs, baby listening devices and baby sitting upon request (at least 24-hours notice).
Dogs are very welcome at La Meridiana in rooms with direct access to the garden. Our four-legged friends are also welcome in the lobby and restaurants, on a leash.

Only 9 km from the ALBENGA exit on the A 10 motorway - Genoa – Ventimiglia.
After the toll gate, keep to the left and follow the signs for LA MERIDIANA - GARLENDA - GOLF GARLENDA.
After about 1 km you'll come to a roundabout with a Mercedes dealership on your right. Turn left, follow the signs for GARLENDA - GOLF GARLENDA, and take the Aurelia Bis road.
Follow the road, passing through 2 tunnels and travelling alongside the A 10 motorway for a while, then you should go through a third tunnel. After around 5 km, at the interchange keep to the right, following the signs for GARLENDA - GOLF GARLENDA, going down the hill until you reach the stop sign.
Turn left, following the signs for LA MERIDIANA - GARLENDA - GOLF GARLENDA on the provincial road for about 2 km. Pass the entrance to GOLF GARLENDA on your right and go on for about 100 metres until you see the first LA MERIDIANA sign ON THE LEFT that invites you to turn off the provincial road, turn LEFT and cross the small San Rocco bridge.
Continue for about 500 metres and, after admiring the ancient oak and the small San Rocco church, follow the directions indicated on the sign: you have arrived at La Meridiana, our beautiful corner of Liguria.
