Landa Landa

The Landa is one of the greatest hotels of Castile, only 4 kilometers south of Burgos and it affords easy access to the fantastic wine country in the Rioja Region, as well as to visiting the city of Burgos. A romantic getaway, it is in a handsomely restored castle from the 1300s with later additions. Pilgrims once stopped here en route to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, but they wouldn't recognize the grandeur of the place today. Located in a renovated 14th century castle, the owners have done a very nice job in insulating the motorway noise away from the living quarters. The rooms of the Landa are delightfully "country" decorated and there are antiques throughout. The help is delightful and the parking offers excellent security for your auto. Decorated with tasteful antiques, the lobby sets the tone with its white marble and ornate coffered ceiling. Rooms are spacious and cozily inviting with antique decorations and tile floors. Although parts of the Landa look a little worn, the graciousness of the staff compensates. An excellent restaurant is attached to the hotel and I strongly suggest that at least one of the diners at your table indulge in the Lamb!!!

How to reach the hotel

Train Station: Burgos (3 Kms.)
Airport: Vitoria (150 Kms.)

The Burgos airport offers daily flights to Barcelona
Burgos is well connected to its neighbors by a network of highways, but its routes to and from Barcelona (6 hr.) are especially wide and modern. The road from Barcelona changes its name several times, from the A-2 to the A-68 to the E-4, but it is a superhighway all the way.
From Madrid, follow the N-I north for about 2 hours; the highway is fast but less modern than the road from Barcelona.

Burgos Cathedral

Burgos CathedralFounded in the 9th century, this Gothic city in the Arlanzón River valley lives up to its reputation as the "cradle of Castile." Just as the Tuscans are credited with speaking the most perfect Italian, so the citizens of Burgos, with their distinctive lisp ("El Theed" for "El Cid"), supposedly speak the most eloquent Castilian. You can enjoy visiting the amount of Historical Monuments, among them, the Monasteries and the Grand Cathedral begun in the 13th century  and  completed in the 15th and 16th centuries. The entire history of Gothic art is summed up in its superb architecture and its unique collection of works of art, including paintings, choir stalls, reredos, tombs and stained-glass windows.

El Cid Campeador, Spain's greatest national hero immortalized in the epic El Cantar de Mío Cid, is forever linked to Burgos. He was born near here and his remains lie in the city's grand cathedral.

The feedback you can read in many websites cannot always be trusted at face value, it is usually a subjective opinion of how the writer of the feedback felt while staying at the property, or it could be written by someone who did not really stay there...? On the contrary, The JP Moser Hotel & Chateau Guide can proudly say that Mr. Moser, the author of the guide, stays at the properties featured in The JP Moser Hotel & Chateau guide, usually for two days and two nights, in order to evaluate thoroughly the quality of installations and experience the service they offer; therefore, if a lodging establishment is featured in The JP Moser Hotel & Chateau Guide, is because it is exactly as you see it in www.jpmoser.com and you can be sure that if you book this property, there should not be any unpleasant surprises while you stay there.

We strongly recommend that you to send your reservation requests and/or inquiries using the form on the JP Moser website www.jpmoser.com, which will go directly to the property, and will be answered by a live person, not by an automated system. When you use the JP Moser website to make your reservations, you have the advantage that the JP Moser staff will monitor your request with the hotel, to make sure they answer promptly, and will be at your service to assist you and answer your questions, because remember, we know the place because Mr. Moser has stayed there...

On the other hand, if you have already stayed at this property, please share with us your experience, especially if there was anything not to your satisfaction, because as much as we visit and stay at the establishments featured in The JP Moser Hotel & Chateau Guide, things could change at any time (perhaps due to a new management or something else), in which case, upon receiving your complaint, we will immediately contact the property to inquire what happened and see if there is anything that can be done to compensate.

Sincerely,

JP Moser
