ABOUT ILSENBURG |
| |
|
Ilsenburg,
situated on the edge of North Germany's highest mountain, the
Brocken (1142 Mts.), has developed into a renowned cultural retreat.
In the time of the German writers Goethe and Heine, they let
themselves be inspired by the first national park High Harz with its
1000-year history. In Heinrich Heine's honour the most beautiful of
the hiking trails leading to the summit is named the Heinrich Heine
Trail. The pure air spa's acknowledged healthy climate and the
impressive landscape offer the best rest and recreation experiences
at any time of year. Enjoy the Ilse Falls and the impressive view
from the Ilse Stone (477 Mts.) of the mountain's mass and the
surrounding region. Alongside the extensive net of walking trails,
Ilsenburg has, thanks to its history and tradition, a diversity of
historic building such as the Romanesque convent church with its
rare plaster floor. |
