Le Mas d'Artigny is part of the
prestigious “Grandes Etapes Françaises” a group with eleven luxurious
hotels/chateaux. This one in particular, is quite unique, it was built
in the 1970’s by Monsieur Rene Traversac, the founder of the group, who
wanted to have something different from all the prestigious chateaux he
owned: Le Prieure, Esclimont, Artigny, Gilly, Isenbourg, etc. He bought
16 acres of beautiful park land in one of the nicest areas of Provence-Cote
d’Azur. In those days, the cost of land was only 20 cents (US) per
square meter and taking advantage of this, he built a wonderful hotel
designed by him and the famous architect Fernand Pouillon, with lots of
space everywhere. 34 spacious rooms and suites in the main building all
with very nice views, 21 apartments surrounding this main building, each
with its own private swimming pool and two full baths, and three villas
which can accommodate up to fourteen people in a villa. An indication of
Monsieur Traversac’s concern for space and comfort are the showers in
the apartments, double in size of what is usually found in most hotels. |
